A cake that goes great with coffee, tea, or milk

This yummy recipe has ALL the warm spices you'll find in any delicious autumn dessert. Here's what you need:

1/2 softened butter

1 cup sugar

1 egg

1 cup applesauce

1 and 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

1 teaspoon nutmet

1 and 3/4 cups flour (I used gluten-free)

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 cup chopped pecans

How to: cream the soft butter with the sugar until it's a light yellow color. Add the egg and applesauce. At this stage, the mix might look gloppy but don't worry, keep going. Add the spices and vanilla and dry ingredients. Add pecans last.

Bake in greased 8 inch square pan at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

We've been eating this hearty cake without frosting, but I bet it would be fabulous topped with whipped cream or a decadent layer of cream cheese frosting.
